Today's Bible Study- Genesis 42- Joseph and his brothers
and Romans 2

Today's Hymn

3862 steps yesterday. That's because of how much time I spent in the car.

Everyone is doing better. I am hearing less coughing. I do still have a couple who haven't been sick yet, so they may be on the way down.

My Joe and I went to Reno and picked up another waterbed frame.
  1. When we pulled the old bed apart it was aparent that the base wouldn't have lasted much longer, even if the sides hadn't collapsed already.
  2. This bed is very much taller. It may end up being too tall :-(
  3. The headboard now covers most of our window :-(
  4. I now realize how much is stored in the drawers in my bedroom that we don't actually use.
History: my parents bought this bedroom set for me when I was 10. It has served Hubby and I well for our 32 years of marriage. It is old and fadded and scratched, but quite functional.

But as we have become more and more minimalist and as the plague of mice has invaded, we have already emptied half the drawers.

The other half are full of things that are either categorized as "keepsakes" (i.e. Mom's day cards from my kids), and things we likely will never use again (i.e. the wool I collected when I was into spinning, something I haven't done in ages)

I could easily empty almost every drawer, move the things I can't dispose of (such as Hubby's underwear, lol), and sell my furniture (and spinning wheel?) But can I really bring myself to do that?

Oh the calm and peace of waking up to the sound of running water. So lovely.

Unless you live in the deserts of Nevada.

And sleep on a waterbed.

Then, not so much.

Sigh, Yes, I didn't quite get the leak fixed. One final try today, and then I don't know what; buy a new mattress?

Still on schedule for this week:
  • Do some shopping at walmart and home depot. (Tomorrow)
  • Finish detail dusting the living room. (Did part of that yesterday. Very little left)
  • Find what is smelling (I think a mouse must have run off with a mousetrap, so this may involve moving furniture. Looked yesterday but still can't find it :-(  )
  • Mount Never Rest (laundry; almost caught up for the week)
  • Get all the chore charts for the next month ready (Just finished that)
  • Get my Newsletter for Lilla Rose ready. (Ooops. Forgot. Better get busy on it.)
  • Decide on events for both the church and my business.  (Sigh. No time to look yet. Need to bring some money into my business, but I don't have any parties or events scheduled)
  • Go through the sample fliers  and pick what the church wants to buy. (Like, today? so I can take them to Bible Study tonight and discuss it with the rest of the church?)
  • Exchange son #1's sim card for one that fits. (Again, Oooops)
  • Declutter 3 armloads of books from the car.(Yeah, right. Probably going to go through drawers instead)
I don't accomplish a lot when we don't have school. It just messes me up.

Flexi of the Day:

For my routines, see the sidebar.

Monthly Habit we are building:

Decluttering Daily: need to clean out the basement, attic, garage, storage? Set a timer, making an appointment with yourself to spend 5 minutes a day working on it.

I think I will start with the cars that are storing books. These need to be listed on eBay, so its a bit more involved than just tossing them in the trash. I'm just tossing most of them in the trash. A few I will share with a fellow homeschooler, but most of them are a waste of space, totally useless for them, the thrift stores won't take books anymore, and most won't sell. So to garbage they go.

Nope. Drawers blocking the walkway from the living room to my bathroom come first. (The new bed has a headboard that the old one didn't, making it nearly a foot longer. That walk way was tight to begin with. We moved the hunking big dresser my grandma bought 60 years ago for $2 and replaced it with a smaller set of drawers that store things, but there is still not enough room to walk through without turning sideways. And why do we have a California King bed if our room isn't really big enough? Because my Hubby is 6'3". The standard bed is 6'. A California King is 8".)

Weekly zone focus:

Living room, dinning room, entry, porch (I don't have an entry, my is tiny and takes all to 2 minutes to clean. So, personally, I will focus on the living room and dinning room my bedroom)

(This is the zone we are tackling all our monthly and less often chores in this week)

Today's Meals:

  • SOS
  • SOS
  • Carnitas Burritos, yum, yum.

Today's FlyLady Mission:

  • Detail vacuum the living room. Nope
    • Do this all the time, so it doesn't need to be an extra chore.
    • Again, concentrating on my bedroom.

Tami's assignments (Tami is a homeschooling mom of 6 who is a partner of FlyLady):

Monday - Declutter & Detail Dust the Living Room (Very little left)
Tuesday - Detail Vacuum the Living Room (Don't really need to do it. Our house is so small, vacuuming the middles IS vacuuming the edges, and my vac does such a good job getting the edges, I don't think I can do this one.)
Wednesday - 27 Fling Boogie (In my bedroom)
Thursday - Declutter and Sweep the Front Porch (Only thing on the porch is the stack of sleeping bags I put there for our arthritic dog, and the wind sweeps it most every night)
Friday - Declutter Entryway/Launch Pad Area (don't have one)

Today's Bible Study- Genesis 41- Joseph before Pharaoh
    and Romans 2

    Today's Hymn

    No idea how many steps.

Everyone is doing better, though I am hearing a lot of coughing. I do still have a couple who haven't been sick yet, so they may be on the way down.

Hubby and I bought a waterbed years ago, just as they were beginning to go out of fashion. We have been through two frames and 3 mattresses since then. This last couple of weeks our frame collapsed (honestly, it wasn't a surprise. We saw it weakening and tried to fix it). The pedestal is fine. It's the side boards that fell off, puncturing the mattress while it did it. I have fixed the mattress, though I'm not at all sure I got all of it. The floor is still awfully wet.

I worked on it yesterday, fixing the leak better. I hope I got it this time.

Found a new (to us) frame on craigslist, so even though  most of the family is well enough for school, I'll be driving into the city instead, to pick it up. Honestly, this one is so much better than what we have had for years! It has a bookcase-headboard and drawers underneath!

Still on schedule for this week:
    • Do some shopping at walmart and home depot.
    • Finish detail dusting the living room.
    • Find what is smelling (I think a mouse must have run off with a mousetrap, so this may involve moving furniture. Looked yesterday but still can't find it :-(  )

    • Declutter 3 armloads of books from the car.
I don't accomplish a lot when we don't have school. It just messes me up. I did get the cinchshare programming done, as well as updating the allowance cards.

Spent way too much time listening to one of my favorite preachers.

Read a review of a new spelling program I want to look into. Spelling has always been my worst subject, so I've always had trouble with it in our school.

Today's Bible Study- Genesis 40- Of Bakers and Butlers
      and Romans 2

      Today's Hymn
      No idea how many steps.

The flu is running through our home. I've had three children I almost took to urgent care because of it (I believe in letting nature heal the way God designed whenever possible, but using er's when things are beyond what nature can safely do.) In all 3 cases, the child ran a high fever, was lethargic, and looked horrid. 2 of them got to the point of me thinking "If they aren't better in x hours we are going to the dr." Both were better in the time frame. Not well, but obviously improved.

Last night the 3rd kind of scared me. She was breathing weird, lethargic, high fever. I gave her ibuprofen* with the plan to take her to ER if there wasn't drastic improvement in 1 hour. Her fever broke 20 minutes later. She's still kind of out of it today, but has moved from the recliner to my bed. That's more moving than she did yesterday, other than bathroom trips. I haven't checked her fever in a while, but early this morning it was still gone. So, Yea!

The sum total is, we all missed church yesterday and won't be doing school today. We'll just vegge, watch the snow (winter appears to have finally arrived), and watch some movies.

Hubby and I bought a waterbed years ago, just as they were beginning to go out of fashion. We have been through two frames and 3 mattresses since then. This last couple of weeks our frame collapsed (honestly, it wasn't a surprise. We saw it weakening). The pedestal is fine. It's the side boards that fell of, puncturing the mattress while it did it. I have fixed the mattress, though I'm not at all sure I got all of it. The floor is still awfully wet.

It is so very tempting to go to a normal bed. So much less hassle. I know I could adjust easily, since I nap on the floor occasionally. But I am not at all sure Hubby can. When I'm done here I will be checking out Craigslist and see what I can find.

      On schedule for this week:
      • Do some shopping at walmart and home depot.
      • Finish detail dusting the living room.
      • Find what is smelling (I think a mouse must have run off with a mousetrap, so this may involve moving furniture.

        Today's Bible Study- Genesis34- Esau
        and Romans 2

        Today's Hymn

1853 recorded Steps yesterday, but I don't wear my phone while at church. 8172 steps Thursday. I was upset at someone and walked.

I did the minimum of my morning routine this morning.

Will do school. Still have to do the weekly church chores.

Still need to catch up on a bunch of things. Last week was pretty unproductive, though I got a lot of dusting done.
        • I still need to make some videos in preparation for the next FB party tomorrow. I can get things much better organized, but I won't really know what all to do until I've done it a few times.
        • I did sign up for the free trial with Cinchshare.com yesterday. Yes, I see very well how this site helps. The question is, will I do enough FB parties in the next year to pay for it?It is working quite well at the moment. And I used it to increase activity on the church's FB page. Made a big difference in engagement, too.

They said it would get better- It does.

        Flexi of the Day:

Early Morning Routine- look at the sidebar

Later today: (having trouble getting to these at all. Really need to work on this part of the day. I think this is my biggest problem.)

        • Do an herbal lesson
        • Do a "Lilla Rose University" lesson (lessons put together by my upline to share her and other experienced stylist's knowledge.)

        Evening Routine
        • Fix the coffee on the timer for the morning.
        • Fix water for Hubby and I (big, 100 cups like you buy at convenience stores. This is a day's water and we aim to drink the whole thing.)
        • Shine my sink
        • I'm adding "clean up 'hot spots'"
        • Set all the mouse traps.

          Today's Bible Study- Genesis 29
          and Romans 1

Today's Hymn This is a hymn written by George Frederick Handle. Not a hymn, really. Closer to a song from a musical. One of the most famous pieces of music of all time. When he finished it, he looked up at his servant with tears in his eyes and said, "I believe I have seen the face of God."

4733 Steps yesterday. (a lot of sitting working on the computer, getting ready for my first Facebook party We did walk around the block, though. I need to add a bit of weight lifting, I think. )

I did the minimum of my morning routine this morning. Very minimum.

Today's schedule includes finishing my morning routine, breakfast, school, checking both the church and my own books, working on the church's music, weekly chores, finishing up the facebook party (contacting the winner of the doorprize, thanking my hostess), as well as setting up the one booking for a new party I got last night. Sounds like it's such a big thing, but actually I don't know that it really is. The hostess last night is my mom's cousin. The hostess is mine, lol. The winner of the prize isn't related, though, as far as I know. It was un nerving to watch myself talk, and my stock is in a total mess this morning, but otherwise it went great.

Need to list some more books on eBay as well as things on craigslist. I'm not really so concerned with the money as the fact that our local thrift stores are simply getting too selective with what they will accept as donations. These things are too good for me to be able to throw them away and I can't give them away, so I'll sell them.

I still need to make some videos in preparation for the next FB party. I can get things much better organized, but I won't really know what all to do until I've done it a few times.

Time Management for Homesteads- I'm not, technically, a homesteader. But I am a "wanna be." These are some great tips for running any household. Home management doesn't get the credit it deserves. It is the basic "enterprise" that makes life work for everyone. All other enterprises exist to support Home Management in one way or another.

Except I probably won't today. I'm taking child #5 to get her driving permit. Because it is all the way into town, this will take at least 2 hours, and since we won't go until after school, and we have Bible study tonight, that pretty much blows the whole day.

          Weekly zone focus:

          Kitchen

(This is the zone we are tackling all our monthly and less often chores in this week)

          Today's Meals:

          • baked potatoes
          • sos
          • Quesadillas

           Today's FlyLady Mission:

          • Yesterday we were supposed to wash the silverware drawer. I'll try to get that in.
          • Clean the fridge out (I'll do that tomorrow or Friday while making a shopping list)

Tami's assignments (Tami is a homeschooling mom of 6 who is a partner of FlyLady):

Monday - Declutter & Wipe the Kitchen Counters (Kind of did this over the weekend just because I was in the mood)
Tuesday - Declutter items from 1 drawer (I also did these over the weekend. Well, except for the three drawers that hold attachements to my mixer I seldom use. The mice have been in those, so....)
Wednesday - Decutter leftovers from the fridge (I do this automatically every couple of days.)
Thursday - Declutter items from 1 cabinet (I really only have one that needs it, and it will take less than 10 minutes)
Friday - Wipe stove top & microwave

Set your timers and then take a break when it goes off!

          Today's Bible Study- Genesis 28
          and Romans 1

Today's Hymn This is a hymn written by Charles Wesley for Easter Morning service.

5720 Steps yesterday. (a lot of sitting working on the computer, getting ready for my first Facebook party.)

I did the minimum of my morning routine this morning.

Today's schedule includes finishing my morning routine, breakfast, school, checking both the church and my own books (I think I have them caught up but need to be sure), working on the church's music, weekly chores, and working on the facebook party.

Need to list some more books on eBay as well as things on craigslist. I'm not really so concerned with the money as the fact that our local thrift stores are simply getting too selective with what they will accept as donations. These things are too good for me to be able to throw them away and I can't give them away, so I'll sell them.

I still need to make some videos in preparation for he FB party.

Time Management for Homesteads- I'm not, technically, a homesteader. But I am a "wanna be." These are some great tips for running any household. Home management doesn't get the credit it deserves. It is the basic "enterprise" that makes life work for everyone. All other enterprises exist to support Home Management in one way or another.(Just substitute "homestead" for "home management.")

          Today's Bible Study- Genesis 24
(I am working on Romans 1. I gave up doing commentaries in 2 places and have just decided to do this one.

Today's Hymn This is also a hymn written by Isaac Watts.

5873 Steps yesterday. (Not quite my goal, but I took my phone off before bed so all the bedtime routine walking wasn't recorded.)

I did the minimum of my morning routine this morning.

Today's schedule includes finishing my morning routine, breakfast, school, closing out the church books for January as well as my own books (which I still haven't done), working on the church's music, paying the bills for the month for the church (Hubby takes care of ours) and setting up a Facebook party.

Sold two more books on eBay so I need to get those ready to go out.

I still need to make some videos in preparation for one I will probably hold next week.
