Double pay

Did you know that many people pay for things twice? We do.

My own family for example;

We pay the same property taxes everyone else does, more than half of which goes to the local public schools. Yet, because we have a religious belief against sending our children to Atheists to be educated (we homeschool), we pay for their education again, privately. Can we afford this? Not really. But we make do and choke back the injustice of it.

Most people pay for health insurance either directly or through their employer. Yet you pay a second time because your taxes go to pay for Medicaid. Most don’t qualify for this program, but if you do, you would be, well, stupid to not use it. After all you are already paying for it.

How about the housing bailout? You pay your mortgage and now you get to pay someone else’s mortgage through the bailout. Fair, isn’t it?

This is what every government program is: you, the taxpayer paying each bill twice. Once for you and once for the person who didn’t earn your money. There is no such thing as a free lunch. SOMEONE must pay for EVERY government goody.

Now most just say the rich should be taxed to pay fort these things. But think about this; those who are the most successful and take the biggest risks should pay twice or three times for everything while those who don’t work and don’t want to take risks shouldn’t pay at all? The only way you could justify this is if you honestly believe the difference between rich and poor is ONLY that the rich cheat. This is simply not the truth.

The average millionaire owns his own business, works sixty hours per week, owns a home in a middle class neighborhood, at least one car more than ten years old (and not a classic), and one recreational vehicle (motor home, jet ski, dirt bike, etc). He is probably someone you know, someone on your street. You know, that nice man that helped you change your flat tire last week; or the lady who gives nice gift baskets to all the neighbors. This is the “evil” person who is punished by these taxes.

And the higher the taxes, the fewer of them there will be. Would you take a second mortgage out on your home to start a business if the government was going to take half of everything you earned? Not likely. You will just stay at your nice and secure slave- job. Higher taxes CAUSE job lose, CAUSE a slower economy.

We must quit looking to the government to take money from the rich and give us the goodies. We must start taking care of ourselves. Only if everyone does this, will we quit having to pay twice for things.

Please keep it civil. Remember we are all human and make mistakes, and that since we can't see each other's faces or hear each other's tone of voice, it is very hard to get the emotion in what we are saying each other. Use lots of emoticons! :-) And show grace and love to each other.
