Diets, vaccines, fat and vampires.

The Well-Rounded Mama: Nutrient Deficits in People of Size

Could nutrient deficiency be one cause of obesity in the first place? Could the need for certain nutrients drive over eating or, worse, cause the body to hoard the reasonable amount it does get in an effort to get the vitamins and nutrients it needs?

The Well-Rounded Mama: Twin Study: Dieting Makes You Fatter

Written in technical talk, but it means that when one twin chose to diet and they other didn't, the dieting twin got fat! So maybe the reason some people can eat anything they want is BECAUSE they have always eaten anything they want.

Dieting does appear to make you fat, not the other way around.

The Well-Rounded Mama: Maternal Obesity and Autism: Science Sensationalism Run Amok

Have you seen these reports? They say that obesity and autism have both risen in the last couple of decades. They imply that obesity, then, must be causing autism. Problems with this:

  • Obesity leveled out more than a decade ago. It ISN'T increasing. Autism, however, continues to rise.
  • C-sections, pitocin inductions, dieting during pregnancy, ultrasounds, the number of vaccines given a baby, cell phones, laptop computers, wireless devices, tattoos, and shows about vampires have also increased dramatically in the last two decade (more, in fact, than obesity has increased on a percentage basis).
Does this mean that obesity also causes vampires? or that Autism causes cell phones? Of course not.

Just because 2 things happen at the same time doesn't mean one causes the other. A third factor might be causing both (how about some chemical reaction in vaccines causing our metabolisms to slow down enough to make us gain weight AND vaccines also causing Autism?).

Or it might simply be coincidence (laptops may not really have anything to do with tattoos. They just happen to both be popular at the same time.)
  • It is possible this was just a coincidence and there really isn't any correlation at all. They just happened to get fat mommas for this study. The next one might just happen to get skinny ones.
In short, any time you hear this kind of study, take it all with a grain of salt.

Why do you Christians always throw the Bible in my face?

Why do you Christians always throw the Bible in my face? | The Matt Walsh Blog

Because it is the source of Truth, the foundation of our lives, God's instruction book for us.

Jesus wants you to judge | The Matt Walsh Blog
"It’s also hypocritical, because telling someone not to judge is, in and of itself, a judgement. Any time you start a sentence with “you shouldn’t,” whatever comes next will constitute a judgement of some kind. Saying, “you shouldn’t judge,” is like saying, “there are no absolutes.”

"Translation: you shouldn’t judge… except when judging people for judging. There are no absolutes… except the absolute that there aren’t any absolutes.

"Yet, have you ever noticed that these “Don’t Judge” folks are nowhere to be found when the conversation turns to the Westboro Baptists, or domestic abusers, or the Nazis, or Republicans? I guarantee I could write a post condemning gay marriage opponents as bigots and homophobes and not a one of these pragmatists would swoop in to tell me not to “judge.”

Just go read his blog. He says it better than I can.

School starting age: the evidence | University of Cambridge

School starting age: the evidence | University of Cambridge
The only study I know of ever done to see when the best age to start school is found that children do best if they wait until 11 years old to go away from home and family every day. This only makes sense to me.

God invented the family. He designed us to be born singly (most of the time) and a couple of years apart. Obviously He thinks we need more of that one on one time with our parents than our culture thinks we do.

More and more studies are finding that early education programs do way more harm than good. They stress the kids and burn them out. They do much better if left at home with mommy.

No matter how hard man tries, God's way is better.

HSLDA | Worst-Ever Homeschool Law Proposed in Ohio

Let me get this straight;
A child is abused by his mom's boyfriend while he is enrolled in public school. Police and social workers both investigate repeatedly. The mom pulls the child to homeschool for a few months and he is killed by her boyfriend.

So we pass laws to punish all homeschoolers.

Had the police and social workers done their job in the first place this child would be alive, yet we will treat all homschoolers like criminals.

Let's add to this that there is some evidence that homeschoolers are LESS LIKELY to abuse their children than public schoolers and it becomes apparent this is nothing more than a witch hunt.

If we are going to have equal treatment under the law than ALL parents should be subjected to this "guilty until proven innocent" type of law or none should be.

(Note, after I wrote this, public pressure caused the author of this bill to withdraw it. It is still important, however, to keep aware of any attempts like this to remove our rights. More on the same incident...)

Politician: “Let’s treat all homeschool parents like felony child abusers” | The Matt Walsh Blog

"That makes the sex scandal in public schools many, many, many times more prevalent than the abuse epidemic in the Catholic Church. It’s not even close, actually. The Hofstra researcher who conducted the study had this to say: “The physical sexual abuse of students in schools is likely more than 100 times the abuse by priests.” "

Creationism's Proofs

Human-like Fossil Menagerie Stuns Scientists
Seems a whole bunch of human skulls were obviously buried at the same time or close to it, that "evolved" thousands or millions of years apart. Impossible under the theory of evolution. Perfectly expected under Young Earth Creation, which believes that all humans are descended from Adam and Eve and encompass many different types of people now extinct (i.e. Neanderthal) who are no less human than we are today.

Why Does Nearly Every Culture Have a Tradition of a Global Flood?
Because all cultures are descendents of Noah, of course.

Dinosaur Soft Tissue Preserved by Blood?
You know, the evolutionists keep trying and trying to come up with a way to save their fairy tale errr, theory but they just can't find a reasonable explanation for why we are finding blood (NOT fossilized blood cells, but the fresh stuff) in UNfossilized T-Rex bones. Nice try but no dice.

Why Did God Create Such Terrible Teeth?
Crocodiles, those symbols of exclusive meat-eating, have been seen eating watermelons- and enjoying it!  If today's known "exclusive" meat-eaters look for and eat fruit, why is it really a stretch to think that before the Fall they ate only plant matters like God said in Genesis? You know, we really should choose to believe the One who created the whole universe more than human scientists who change their minds every other year.

Sticking Your Neck Out
There is no way long necked dinos could have evolved. They would have died without any one piece of their magnificent body in place.  They had to have started out in exactly the shape we see their fossiles (and cave paintings) in today.

The Oldest American Petroglyphs
These are near my home:-)
This article doesn't mention it, but it isn't real uncommon to find petroglyphs with dinow in them. If dinos died out before humans evolved how did the humans know what they looked like enough to draw them on their walls?

Anyway, evolutionists are always so surprised at how smart cave men were. Creationists know, however, that "cave men" were perfectly normal human being who just took shelter in the best spot available at the time (possibly after being kicked out of their homes, before having time to build new ones.)
Was There an Ice Age?
Yes, actually there was:-) Article gives the evidence.

The Raising of Children

The economic benefits of childbearing
First of all, all of humanity ends if no one has kids. And in just one generation, too.

But these researchers go a step further; they figure the long term benefits each little human will eventually bring to society and find out that, Hey!, society is better off with people in it ("A growing population is a king's glory; a prince without subjects has nothing." Proverbs 14:28)

But what about the parents? How should those little people be turned into big people and who should do it? First of all...

How dads affect kids’ brain function
God made it take a Mom AND a Dad to make a baby because children need both. They do not grow up normal or healthy without both. Dad's in our culture have been marginalized and pushed out the door. This is a big part of the problems we have today. Men and women are very different creatures and children must have BOTH.

Boy Trouble
"Family breakdown disproportionately harms young males—and they’re falling further behind."

But a Woman NEEDS to be in the home.

This is clear in scripture.(Titus 2)

And this is the most...

Powerful

place in the world to be.

Think about it:

  • BO is the man he is today because of what his mom and grandma taught him, because of the men they chose to have in his life.

  • The same can be said for Reagan, Bush, etc.
  •
  • And likely the bum on the street.

Mom's rule the world!

The Pill: Making Motherhood “Better”?
"This writer wants a stay-at-home mother of nine and her hardworking husband (who supports his family as sole breadwinner) to cough up more tax dollars so she doesn’t have to face any “hard choices” or pay “ruinously high” amounts of money for other people to raise her children while she works. Pardon me if I sound just slightly incredulous, but does anyone else see the incredible inequity here?"

This link is to a woman's comments on the article about the Pill making women better mothers. What the Pill really did was allow women to not be mothers, especially not as often. And what feminism did was make women the measure of all things. It took away the unique honor of womanhood, the special privileges of the only thing that is uniquely female: childbearing.

Now women are measured on how manly they are. So very sad. Meanwhile, who is raising the children? It's not like no one needs to care for them if mom and dad are both gone all day. SOMEONE must be there. So many, many children are raised by a minimum wage worker while mommy and daddy earn money. And we wonder why so many more people are mentally ill.

I quote this particular paragraph because it so fits my family; 9 kids, homeschooled by homemaking mom while Hubby works 45+ hours a week with a 1 hour commute (that's one hour each direction). And you want ME to kick in enough money so you don't have to pay for someone else to care for your kids out of your own pocket? In other words you want my taxes to be so high I have no choice but to join you in the workforce. Then you won't feel so guilty.

Our Parenting Tragedy: Making Kids “Happy” is Making Them Helpless

Of course that guilt from neglect (whether it's kicking daddy out, daddy abandoning the kids, or mommy pursuing fancy careers instead of building human beings) that causes parents to be too indulgent. They aren't there to give their kids what they really need so they give them the fakey stuff that will eventually ruin them.

Hubby has had to  work with some of these Gen Ys. They really do think they should get half a paycheck just for showing up. You're not helping them, parents!

Quit chasing money and start raising tomorrow, would ya?!

Now on to today's previously scheduled programing...

Eagle Forum Blog: Why Can't We Cut Education Spending?

And from a moral point of view:

Every child deserves a private education.

We all know that public school is the bottom of the barrel, educationally. We need to leave the tax money with the family so they can provide their own children with the best available on the planet: American Private and Home schools.

And if you think we are too addicted to the gov paying for it, the average private school is only $3000 while the average homeschooler only spends about $600 per year. The average public school spends $10,000 per child. So cut a check (voucher) to the child for half of what we would spend on public school. The child gets a private school education and the tax payer gets a tax cut. Win/win.

American Thinker: Closets and Christians

"First, why do the very people that constantly tell us that what a person does in their bedroom is no one else's business, simultaneously find it necessary to inform everyone of what they do in their bedroom?"

There is a definite biased in this country against Christians. It is, in fact, persecution. Not, thankfully as bad as in the Middle East where believers in Christ are killed every day, but persecution it still is. The left are hypocrites. They only tolerate those who agree with them.

Cruel Laws by Walter E. Williams on Creators.com - A Syndicate Of Talent

We do NOT have a free economy! It is VERY government controlled at all levels with the favor always given to the already established (usually big) businesses. It's time to change.

Isn’t Porn Harmless?

Porn’s Ripple Effects: 3 Collateral Damages of Pornography Use

I am posting these articles on porn because I have read so many heart breaking letters on forums frequented mostly by women.

My observations from these stories:
  1. Men's behavior is different if they are viewing porn on a regular basis. Generally they get more violent, distracted, and ruder to their wives. They also tend to loose perspective on what is appropiate things to say sexually in front of others.
  2. The couple's sex life disintegrates. He wants to do the things he sees and expects her to preform. She wants to relax and make love. This can become irreconcilable.
  3. The man becomes less tolerant of his wife doing anything but sex and is irritable at the children for needing attention from either parent.
  4. The woman, no matter how often her hubby tells her differently, feels ugly, old, and undesirable. A woman has a need to be the one focus of a man's sexual attention. This need is not met when he is distracted by porn.
And this is just the damage done to the women on the forums and groups I have frequented. This doesn't address the violence, sex-slave industry and drugs that are used to get the women to preform or any other side affects for anyone else.

The take-away lesson is, men, if you love your wife, if you want to stay married avoid porn of all kinds like the plague.

Due Dates

An Estimated Due Date is NOT and Expiration date!

The only study ever done to see when a woman had her baby if left alone said 41 weeks and 1 day was the norm.

Where did the old fashioned "40 weeks" come from?

A German doctor arbitrarily decided pregnancy should last 10 moons (each "moon" is 4 week; the time from one full moon to the next).

Real scientific there.

And now doctors are increasingly taking babies at 39 weeks. The reason for this is mostly to avoid law suits and control their own schedcule.

But let me ask you; did God know what He was doing when He created women? Wouldn't it be healthiest for all concerned (Mommy and Baby) to let those mechanisms that God put in place decide when a baby is born (unless there is an obvious REAL problem, of course.)

Charity

If you are against people taking food stamps, HUD, AFDC (welfare), etc, what have you done to help those who find themselves with little or no other choice to survive?

Especially as the economy worsens (which it will now) there will be more and more hard working families facing the choice between food stamps or starvation or homelessness. What are you, especially the Church who is called to help

the poor, doing to help them?

Part of the reason for the results in our recent elections is that the Church as a whole has lost the compassion for the poor that Jesus commanded us to have.

If the only one who is offering solutions is the government, you can't complain when those with problems look to the government for answers.

We, the Church, need to step up to the plate and care for the poor and hurting. We also need to stand up against the laws and rules that keep businesses from creating the jobs necessary to allow people to care for themselves.

The Bible teaches strong personal property rights and if we allow the government to rob the job creators of their property we are who is at fault for all those who must humble themselves by excepting government charity.

Plus, Minus, Misconceptions, and Fascinations of a large family

Large Family Logistics: Plus, Minus, Misconceptions, and Fascinations of the large family.

Yep, she got it right.

God designed most women to have many babies. The average before the invention of birth control was 7-8.

Science is discovering that this is actually healthier for women. First of all, the Pill is a level 4 carcinagen. Also,
  • The natural break from periods that comes with many pregnancies gives the body a rest.
  • The hormones of pregnancy stimulates the brain and makes it work better (I certainly write better when pregnant.)
  • The baby leaves behind fetal stem cells that go to different parts of the body healing what might be wrong.
And she learns organization and logistics management out of sheer necessity.

Besides this, children from large families:
  •  Learn cooperation, sharing, and patience.
  • There is always someone to play with.
  • They must learn how to deal with different personalities because, unlike at school where you get to choose your companions, you are stuck with your siblings.
Even dads benifit:
  • Men with six or more children have a longer average life span than men with few children.

Having kids keeps you young!

Is Pro-Life Enslavement?

A friend recently made the statement, "Both the pro-choice and the pro-life position seek to enslave women."

How the Pro-choice side enslaves women is obvious. Planned Parenthood is the single biggest provider and promoter of abortions. They are also a mufti-million dollar corporation. If abortion were to be outlawed or generally fall out of favor so it was never used a whole lot of rich bureaucrats in Planned Barrenhood will go broke. They make their money off of women's distress and then sell the body parts to pharmaceutical and cosmetic companies.

A woman who used to work at PB, was in fact a six-digit a year vice-president, claimed they would intentionally give women (especially teens) low dose pills that had a high failure rate in order to drum up more business.

PB has also been caught on film lying to women, ignoring obvious cases of statutory rape and prostitution, and siding with men and parents trying to force women to have abortions.

Yes, the pro-choice side enslaves women.

But how does the pro-life side enslave women?

The answer would be "They force women to have babies they don't want."

Really? Pro-lifers are going around impregnating women against their wills? If that is true, why aren't we locking them all up in prison as rapists?

The truth is that 99% of abortions are preformed on women who CHOSE to have sex. Hey, newsflash! We know what causes pregnancy!

If you don't have sex you won't get pregnant.

Pretty simple really. If you don't want a baby, keep your pants on (and this goes for men too.)

What pro-lifers are actually saying is "IF you CHOOSE to have sex and make a baby, it is not moral to hire someone to rip that baby's arms and legs and head off. That tiny human being did not ask to be brought into existence. That was your choice. You have the moral obligation to provide for that child at least until birth."

Is this really enslavement of women? Or is it holding them to the same standard we hold men to (if you father a child you must provide for it until it is adopted or reaches age 18. No option. No choice.)?

Allergies, bugs, and mold

Today's post is quite delayed because I have been doing some research.

For many years I have been very thankful that my children are very strong and healthy with very few illnesses. Even Hubby and I haven't been very ill (except for Hubby's kneww he destroyed playing basketball as a young adult and a slight tendancy towards hypogycimia and asthma in me.)

Gradually over the years though, this has been changing.

Hubby had a kidney stone, then a couple of bouts of gout, now he is showing signs of asthma.

My weight has started to rise, hormones are obviously not right (but then I am approaching the age where "not right" is perfectly normal.), acne is coming back (!), achey, fatigued, IBS, migraines, ADHD getting worse.

Oldest daughter has bad acne. In fact all my older children do, though her's is the worst.

Hubby and a son have severe constipation issues.

A daughter is showing signs of blood sugar problems. I am watching closly.

A daughter has random hives and eczema (actually all four of my younger ones do, but one is much worse than the others.)

Hay fever all over the place.

Hubby has started having occasional cases of hive; 1 big hive from head to foot accompanied by, uhhh, tummy problems.

We are starting our third winter of one cold or flu right after another. Of course, some of this is just because with so many people in the house by the time a virus passes through everyone, the first person is simply exposed to something new. But it didn't used to be this way....

After prayer at church about Daughter 4's bad hive problem (she was taking allergy meds EVERYDAY and they were only reducing her pain, not stopping it), I noticed that her worst days were the ones when it had been her turn to wash dishes. We immediately switched to a hypo-allergenic dish soap. She has only taken allergy meds twice since then!

I have since switched to dye/fragrance free laundry soap and am in the process of  finding recepies for homemade cleaners for the rest of the house.

We are trying to wash everywhere hands touch, wash hands, and generally wash everything more often.

I am incorperating more immune supporting herbs and reducing processed foods.

Today, I ran across a site discussing several families' stories about house mold.

Those symptoms are WAY too close for comfort:-( I don't know what I could possibly do if it is mold. We simply can't afford to move and that is the only real option for complete treatment.

I can only depend on God to provide the answers I need.

Dublin Declaration | Committee for Excellence in Maternal Healthcare

Dublin Declaration | Committee for Excellence in Maternal Healthcare

The Bible and Science

Why, when the “Infallible Word of God” appears to disagree with atheist scientists do we reinterpret the Bible and not the scientists?

When God said He created the world in six days, if He didn’t mean “six days,” then how do we know He meant Everlasting Life when He said “Everlasting Life”? If He did not Mean the whole earth was flooded when He said “the whole earth,” then maybe He didn’t meal “All have sinned” either. How many souls have been lost due to “reconciling” the scripture to science?

God carefully controlled the interpretation of scripture so it would retain its meaning. He could not have stated His meanings anymore clearly. Will we believe God or man?

(By the way, we aren’t talking about just one or two passages of scripture. A Six day, recent creation followed by a worldwide, cataclysmic flood are mentioned in nearly every book of the Bible!)

The major scientific creation organizations have several thousand-member scientists. Most of these are ex-evolutionists who could no longer deny the FACTS of science.

Ø  The “Geological Column” often used to prove evolution (with its 13 or so precise layers) is only found in one place on the planet…textbooks! In real life no more than five layers, (and seldom more than three), are EVER found. The layers often contain mixed fossils (from 2 or 3 different “eras” together) and layers are often in the “wrong” order. NONE of this should happen if evolution is correct. However, this is exactly the evidence we would expect from a worldwide, violent deluge. (And the positions of the fossils’ bodies indicate mass instant drowning to boot!)

Ø  Dinosaurs have lived with humans. See God’s description of Behemoth in Job. Plus human and dino footprints have been found together in several places worldwide; cave paintings have accurate portals of dinosaurs; and there are several mentions of living “dragons” in western literature over the last 1000 years (works of British Biology from the 1600’s, for example, have very accurate descriptions of mammals, birds, fish, etc. and call many of what we consider “extinct dinos” “currently living dragons”.) The Chinese Emperor had an honorary position called “Dragon Master.” It is entirely possible that this did not start out as an honorary position but was an actual office responsible for the care of the royal dragons used (according to Chinese literature/myths) in coronation ceremonies.

Ø  Carbon dating is very unreliable. Carbon has a half-life of 1400 years. Carbon is entering earth’s atmosphere from the sun. Scientists figured out that at 30,000 years old the earth’s carbon content would balance (the same amount would be coming in as is decaying). They assume we are past that point, that the rate of decay and absorption has been the same for billions of years, and that there was no original “daughter” material (what carbon decays into), nor that any mother or daughter material has been leached away at any time over history. They base all age calculations on these assumptions, and then throw out any dates they think are too old or too young! If the Bible is right, the earth has not yet reached carbon saturation point, the decay and absorption rates probably would have varied greatly before and during the flood making carbon levels totally unreliable. In addition, modern volcanoes put out “daughter” material, without the parent. At the decay rate of a 1400 year half-life, anything dead more than 100,000 years would have too little carbon to measure. We have never discovered ANYTHING with too little carbon to measure. All these problems plague all the other dating methods, also.

Ø  If you take two people (Mr. and Mrs. Noah) x 4 children average per family x 35 years per generation, reproducing at age 20 with an average life span of 80 x 4-5000 years since the flood you equal a world population of 3 billion people. Today’s world population? 2.5 billion. (However, Abraham had eight children and died at 180 years old. His grandson Jacob had 13 children and lived to be 150. Moses died at 120 but with only two children, so these numbers are very conservative at best.) By the way, using the formulae of 6 children per family, an average life span of 900 years, and 16-1700 years between Adam and the flood (the shortest time possible by the Bible), you get a pre-flood population of about 23 million people! Enough to literally fill the whole earth with violence- Genesis 6:11)

Ø  All the major geological features of the planet can be explained at least as well with a global flood as with the long time spans the evolutionists use, and in many cases, explained better.

The fact is that there simply is no proof for Macro Evolution. There are some nice theories that sound like they might be true, but Creationism can explain just as much or more of what we see in the world in just as scientific of a manner.

The only way anything can be classified as “true fact” scientifically is if it either is repeatable in the laboratory (which neither Creation nor evolution are) or if you have a reliable eyewitness. Evolution has no eyewitnesses. Creationism claims The Lord God Almighty as her eyewitness. This gives the scientific edge to Creationism.
The definition of the word “Christian” is “like Christ, follower of Christ.” Christ gave us the Bible for an instruction manual. He stated “If you love Me, keep my commands.” He also refereed to Noah and his flood as real people in real events and quoted scripture from the 1st-3rd chapters of Genesis as truth. We can’t keep His commands unless we read and believe the Bible. Young Earth Creationism followed by a global flood are taught throughout the Bible. I have a hard time understanding how anyone can claim to follow Jesus and believe the Bible without believing what It says about Creation and the flood.

On planning babies and stopping them.

Jennifer discusses the decision to consult God about the number of babies you have from the perspective of herself 6 years ago (just as she was converting to Catholicism). Most forget to do this. We eat organic food, use all natural cleaners, and drive electric cars; but heaven forbid we let our bodies do what comes naturally.  (And of course no one wants to talk about the abhorrent amount of estrogen that is showing up in our waterways due to the Pill, but that's another post.)

On planning babies: Jen from seven years ago talks with author Simcha Fisher | Conversion Diary

And the result of our anti-baby mindset?

Once we dehumanize one group, it becomes way too easy to dehumanize others.

The Rights of Parents and Children

Homeschool Organization Joins Fight After Court Orders Children to Attend School for ‘Socialization’

The mom and dad got divorced. The mom wanted to continue to homeschool and the dad was cool with it. No problems, right?

The courts, however, ordered the children put into public school because the court appointed  "guardian ad litem" said her "gut instinct" was that the children needed the socialization. Not any scientific proof that public school provides better socialization, mind you.

Her "gut instinct" (per-conceived prejudice).

In fact, had the supposed experts in the case bother to do a bit of research they would have discovered that EVERY study on homeschool-vs- public school socialization has shown the homeschoolers to be BETTER socialized.

HSLDA and other homeschool organizations are fighting this verdict. Please keep them in your prayers, especially since if this ruling stands it sets the precedent that the court's random, supported opinion is more important than the parent's decisions.

All parent's rights are at stake here.

Quotes from web articles about daycare - 1996, p2
To hear feminists talk you would think a woman's choice is between having her child mothered-full-time or not.

The truth is that every child MUST have full-time mothering no matter what. The question really is "Will this child be mothered by Mommy or a hired babysitter?"

Logic alone dictates that a child does better in the care of his God-given Mommy. Science supports this.

Every child has the right to be parented by his parents. Mommy's desire to have fame or fortune ("fulfilling, important career,") must come second .

Stop Focusing on Millenials
A message to churches to quit catering to the "Millenials" (people born between  1980 and 2000). We should be preaching the Gospel, not marketing to target groups.

As a member or "the Forgotten Generation" (also known as Xers; born between 1965 and 1980) I can haeartely agree. Focusing on one group means ignoring others. And the Gospel Message is relevant for everyone.

(And now here's a scary thought: most Millinials have Boomers for grandparents. Can you imagine growing up with Granny and Granpy being ex-hippies?)

(And just for general information, my parents are just a couple of years too old to be Boomers and Hubby and I are a couple of years too young. They are from the Silent Generation. We're from the Forgotten Generation. We've both spent our lives watching society focus on everyone but us.)

Propaganda and the Media

Many of us homeschoolers use homeschooling as an excuse to learn all sorts of interesting subjects ("Honest, I'm just doing it for the kids, dear.")

One very common subject that falls in this catagory is logic. In fact, one of the most popular homeschooling books (written by two homeschooled young men) is "Logic Fallacies"

This is a depressing book to read.

Oh, don't get me wrong. It's very entertaining and we laughed all the way through it! Cartoons and jokes throughout. I HIGHLY  recommend it to everyone!!!

But then I watch the news. Or read the newspaper. Or listen to the radio.

Now I can't help but here/see the propaganda being used on us every day. Here are some examples:

If you are watching a political discussion panel, notice that there is usually one conservative to 3-4 liberals. Now, Americans are split evenly between the two parties, but this disparity in the panels makes it look like liberals are more common. More popular. You want to be popular, too, don't you? Then be a liberal!

The oldest member of the panel is generally the conservative. Americans worship youth. Obviously, conservatism is for old fogies out of touch with the real world and out dated.

The ugliest member is also the conservative (not that they are really unpleasant to look at. Heaven forbid we acknowledge ugly people exist! But the prettiest are the liberals.) You want to be pretty too, don't you?

The most famous is also liberal. Who is that nobody, anyway?

Now, there are plenty of young, pretty, famous conservatives out there, but they never make it to these shows. In this way we are all predisposed to accept the liberal view even before anyone opens their mouth.

In interviews, conservatives are often shown with weird camera angles while liberals are shown straight-on, "open and honest."

Colors can affect our moods (ever wonder why every classroom you every had in school was pale blue or green?). Conservatives are shown in front of backgrounds that cause discomfort and distrust, agitation: Liberals in front of calming, cheerful, trusting colors.

Interviews are edited so that the viewer hears what the producers want them to hear.

For example, I saw an interview with a pro-abortion and anti-abortion activists side by side. The pro-abortion activist was shown in an air-conditioned office, in front of a bunch of law books, in a 3-piece suit, calmly saying "A woman has the right to control her own body."

The anti-abortion activist wanted to be shown in his office, too, but the TV station said it would make a better story to show him at the protests.

In August.

In Arizona.

With hundreds of protesters making noise behind him so he had to yell.

His interview was edited down to a 30 second blip with him all sweaty, yelling "We MUST end abortion!" Well, who would you side with?

I happened to be home when the live feed for the Oliver North trial came through CNN. Then 30 minutes later I saw the report of that verdict.

The report of the verdict showed a 10 second clip of the judge saying "President Reagan made a mistake." Oh goodness! He messed up bad, didn't he?! Maybe we should impeach him?

Wait a minute! The original, uncut verdict said, "President Regan made a mistake, but other presidents have made far worse mistakes." Oh, so the judges thought the Prez was wrong but it wasn't that big of a deal. Only a minor blip. Ehhh.

Guess which clip got played on the evening news? Over and over again?

Even when the media portrays a conservative, they do so in characture. Anyone remember Archie Bunker or Alex Keaton? Truth is, these are as accurate portrayals of conservatives as white actors in black-face were of blacks. And equally as insulting, by the way.

I once read three different newpaper accounts of the same incident; one for more regulations on homeschoolers, one for less, and one that actually didn't care either way. If I had read any one of them alone, I would have thought it to be very balanced, no matter which one it was. By reading all three, the propaganda techniques became glaring.

Both biased reporters put an emotional paragraph that proved his point first, followed by a paragraph that weakly expressed the opposition. Then another emotional pro and another blahhh against, and so forth for the amount of space he was allowed to fill. Each article LOOKED balanced because it LOOKED like both sides were presented. But in reality, the reader was herded along the path the reporter wanted them to go on, all the while thinking he was making up his own mind.

One time Hubby read the exact same article in a conservative paper and a liberal paper. The only difference was the headline. But those headlines changed your entire feeling about the subject at hand, making you draw completely different conclusions.

Now, the book mentioned above only begins to touch on these techniques, but, depressingly, you should be able to begin to pick out even more if you just look for them.

I guess my point here is that you should evaluate WHY you believe everything you believe. Do you think conservatives are heartless because the ones you have known in your life have been? Or  because Archie Bunker was? Paying attention and learning propaganda techniques are the only way we will remove the power to control us from the hands of those who think they are the elite of the country; the media.

Abortion, over-working, and the ACA are bad but Meat and mammas are good.

In looking over my health related drafts I see quite a few links I want to share, so why don't we do them all at once?

Abortion proponents have long said that having a baby is more dangerous than getting an abortion. This is a main piece of leverage they use to keep abortion legal. Now studies are coming out of China that back up the claims of the anti-abortion advocates. Abortion significantly increases the risk of breast cancer, depression resulting in suicide, and future pre-mature births. Abortion is NOT natural and is NOT health in any way, shape or form.

Articles: New study from China helps to prove the Abortion-Breast Cancer Link
(I find the name  of the National Cancer Institute (NCI) workshop, "Early reproductive events and breast cancer" quite an oxymoron. How can abortion be a "reproductive event"? Isn't the point of abortion to NOT reproduce?)

And more on our societies hell-bent obsession on making women unnatural and ignoring what is really in their best interests. God designed mommies to raise babies. When we try to change God's design, we suffer. If feminists were really concerned about what was best for women, they would be fighting to extend maternity leave to three years or more instead of six weeks.
Domestic Felicity: Post-partum depression or impossible pressure?

Sweden Recommends Low-Carb, High-Fat Diet to Combat Obesity
And so the pendulum swings.... again.

I have been studying nutrition for more than 30 years and can tell you that these humans do not know what they are talking about. They change their minds every few years.

I have come to the conclusion that the answer is to simply follow what the Bible says. God created the world and created us.

  • He supplied humanity with the best food for us from the start.
  • Meat was added at the flood (likely from some nutrient being lost from the dirt and thus plants during that time) and commanded the consumption of meat at least once a year in the Mosaic Law.
  • All dairy products are called "blessings" as are eggs.
  • And Jesus is the Bread of Life (obviously bread is a good thing) and
  • we are the Salt of the Earth (ditto).
But "there is a way that seemeth right to man but the end is death."

Eat what God made for food as close to how He designed it to be eaten as you can.

Avoid man-made food as much as you can (very not easy in our culture, I know).

I am convinced this is the path to the best health possible in this life.

Even is the ACA had rolled out with no problems, if the website had be fun, quick and efficient, if no one had lost their doctor, health insurance or their job because of it...

The Affordable Care Act would still be wrong.

It was never about healthcare at all, but about socialism vs freedom, Worshiping Uncle Sam vs worshiping God.

Articles: How Republicans Can Lose on ObamaCare

How to fix ACA? Can't fix it cause it's not broke.

It was designed to force people into government run healthcare (Medicaid) and make us dependent on the rulings of the bureaucrats controlling it. We obey them or lose all healthcare.

It is about enslavement, not curing cancer.

At that, it is working just fine.

Why Does the Universe Look So Old?

Why Does the Universe Look So Old?

There are many reasons some say the universe looks old. What it comes down to though, is who do you believe? God or man?

"The earth is old" is an idea invented by men to explain away God. These humans looked around and tried to find a way to prove that the universe didn't need God, that they didn't need God.

They looked a the big canyons, (like the Grand Canyon) that are obviously wash-outs of a world-wide flood and made up a fairytale of long ages of time. They didn't, however, do their math. All of the big "river" canyons are much to big to have been carved by their respective rivers, even over 4 billion years (estimates for the Grand Canyon are 6 billion but the oldest earth proponent say the universe isn't that old).

They looked at dinosaur fossils and made up stories of paste ages. Never mind all dinosaur fossils are in the tortured positions of animals that drowned.

They made up stories of being able to tell how old objects are. The problem is they ASSUME the rates of elements entering the earth and the decay rates are the same now that they have always been; that no elements have ever been leached away, never mind they can't prove them to be true, they are often proven false, and the scientists involved change their minds every other year.

Do you now what happens when you ASSUME something? You make an ASS out of U and ME.

If the Flood story of the Bible is true than all the evidence put forward as "showing an old earth" is really evidence of the flood.

So, again, it comes back to "Who do you believe?"

"As for me and my house, we will trust the Lord."

Jesus Loves Me!

Yes, He does! And I am so glad He does too! We all know I don't deserve it, but He is my God!
