Americans Believe There Are More Homosexuals in the U.S. Than There Are Catholics or blacks

Some of the commenters on this article try to disprove the media is being manipulative of our opinions. I would have to ask, if this idea of so many gays doesn't come from the media, where does it come from?

I see two choices:

This survey was done in San Fransico where the percentage of gays is higher than any where else in America (about 1 in 10) and gays are really more visable than they claim or

It's the media.

One commenter figured out that only about 3% of characters on TV are gay (that's about the number of gay/bi in the actual population). But he fails to note that the gay characters are all the main character's best friend. (In fact a large number of characters are just extras and I find it interesting that the assumption is that those are all straight, but anyway...) This promenenat position makes each gay character carry the same weight as several straight ones, thus giving the impression of a larger general population than is true.

The point of the article is that Americans think there are a whole lot more gays than there really are.

Thank you so much for commenting! I love to talk to my readers.

I do ask that there be no anonymous commenters, though. If I am brave enough to put my name on this blog, you should be too:-)

Please keep it civil. Remember we are all human and make mistakes, and that since we can't see each other's faces or hear each other's tone of voice, it is very hard to get the emotion in what we are saying each other. Use lots of emoticons! :-) And show grace and love to each other.
