Science & Sensibility » Maternal Obesity from All Sides (Part 6)
iatrogenic= Doctor caused
Though this article focuses soley on maternity care, the fact is that the type of studies she tells us needs to be done should be done in every area of medical treatment. For example, we all know that larger people have a higher rate of diabeties. Why? Doctors seem to assume that the weight causes the diabeties. If that were true however, ALL fat people would be diabetic and NO skinny people would be, which simply isn't true (my mom for example has "more to love" but is not diabetic.) It may not be the fat causing the diabeties. It may very well be that the same things that cause obesity causes diabeties (and heart disease, cancer, etc.) The diseases and the body size may in fact BOTH be symptoms of other problems but we will never know unless someone studies it.
Could obesity, diabeties, heart disease, cancer actually be caused by vitamin defecincies, vaccinations, lack of exercise, white flour, refined sugar, corn syrup, color TVs or what? We just don't know.

Thank you so much for commenting! I love to talk to my readers.
I do ask that there be no anonymous commenters, though. If I am brave enough to put my name on this blog, you should be too:-)
Please keep it civil. Remember we are all human and make mistakes, and that since we can't see each other's faces or hear each other's tone of voice, it is very hard to get the emotion in what we are saying each other. Use lots of emoticons! :-) And show grace and love to each other.
