Mother and unborn baby die after hospital staff ignore husband's pleas | News
This whole tragedy would not have happened if;
1)She had not been induced. Induction puts more stress on the system, especially old c-section scars, than natural labor. This is the number one mistake.
2)The staff had simply listened to her and her hubby and treated them with human respect. All too often those in the maternity ward (and dare I say the rest of the hospital?) are treated like less than humans.

Do You Realize That It's a Dog?
Shoved to Them: Do You Realize That It's a Dog? I understand lonely people having pets for company. For goodness sake, I have a cat, dog, four rabbits, 13 chickens, a dairy cow and a calf. And this is down from my high of three cats, one dog, fifteen rabbits, 16 chickens and a cow. But I understand that they are animals, NOT people. If I am going somewhere my dog would not be welcome, he stays home (and hunts quail and jack rabbits in our yard. He never catches them, but he has a great time). He's not my baby, though I call my self mom to him. That's because with eight children (and one on the way) it's simpler to just have one name per person. I am too distractable to remember to answer to more than that. Speaking of which...
The relief of being diagnosed with ADHD My little brother was labled when he was a child. Mom refused to use meds but did cut his sugar and used behaior modification. He's a high school teacher, worship leader, guitar teacher, single dad to three adopted boy today (my sil passed away two years ago.) He's blessed to have so much energy!
They never even considered testing me. I was the quiet little girl in the back of the room whispering the answers to the kid in front of me.
But as an adult I read the discription of the female manifstation of ADHD and was floored! You mean everyone doesn't forget everything if they don't write it down? People actually remember to go back into the kitchen and turn the oven off BEFORE the cake starts smoking? Really???
I just figured everyone was the way I am, except of course hubby who never forgets anything ("What do you mean 'how could I pick up low fat milk instead of whole?' They are right next to each other on the shelf. I am sure everyone does it all the time. Oh. You never have? Sigh.") I thought HE was the weird one.
I began to keep an organizer (I call it my memory chip. I especially like Blooms.) I set timers (and most of the time remember what for!) Other little things to keep my head going the right direction.
Anyway, these posts are from a new blog I found today really hit a note with me.

Parental leave
Parental leave - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I just looked over this chart to compare maternity leave in different countries. The US is the ONLY country in the world that has NO paid maternity leave. All the other countries provide from 1 month to a year.
Actually, we do to. We even provide up to six years. The catch is, if you take it we call it Welfare and call you "fat, lazy, leach, stupid..."
I don't actually believe in government handouts like this, but if you are going to force me to pay for bail outs and government indoctrination centers (public school), and all those other programs I don't believe in, I want to be paid for producing the workers that will support them in the future!

World Population Implosion Is Real: Demographic Nightmare Noted
Between the year 2050 and 2070 the WORLD population will begin to decline.
The Global Baby Bust "All told, some 59 countries, comprising roughly 44 percent of the world's total population, are currently not producing enough children to avoid population decline, and the phenomenon continues to spread. By 2045, according to the latest UN projections, the world's fertility rate as a whole will have fallen below replacement levels."
As developing nations begin educating their people, especially their women, marriage and thus childbirth is delayed. Add in the fanatical hatred of babies by Planned Barrenhood and the UN and you can easily see the decline coming. We are in serious trouble people.
Declining population means a declining economy (fewer consumers to buy products). A rising population builds a growing economy.
In the last big economic boom in America, what was one of the biggest employers? The construction industry. But with a shrinking population that entire industry has ended. It will not recover.
I am not saying we shouldn't educate people. I AM saying we should quit lying about the affect of choosing stuff over babies. There is no reason a woman who marries at 24 (the average age in the US) couldn't have eight children or more (my first was born when I was 24, in fact). They just need to know that it is a good thing to do so and have sociatal support to do so.
If I believed in socialism and was made ruler, I would offer a 100% paid, three year maternity leave to EVERY mother, plus an income tax credit of $10,000, plus an annual educational voucher for each child of at least $5000 to be cashed at the school of the parent's choice or to be used for homeschool expenses.
Since I am not a socialist however, I would favor cutting all taxes. I don't know what else could be done, but something must be.

Bellies are beautiful
The beauty of my body isn't measured by the size of the clothes it can fit into, but by the stories it tells. I have a belly and hips that say, 'we grew a child in here' and breasts that say, 'we nourished life.' - Sarah from I Am Beautiful: A Story of Women in Their Own Words as shared by "The Well_Rounded Mama"

Sexualizing our Kids, No Thank You Hollywood? Great article except they leave out the most important option to control your child's sexual exposure; Remove all TV, especially broadcast TV from the home. It's a time-waster in the first place and in the second we adults don't need to be watching it any mroe than the kids do. My family watches only videos (some through livestream Netflex) and football. That is more than enough for any child or adult. And you know what? TV really isn't one of the essintial nutrients. We really won't die without it. In fact, since we would be forced to, gasp!, talk to each other, we would be far better off.

Us vs. them unions
EDITORIAL: Us vs. them unions - Washington Times
The question is, who is guarding the hen house?
When a private union goes to the bargaining table, the businesses are on the other side. These opposing factions keep prices as low as possible while keeping quality (through skilled labor) high. The consumer wins in the long run.
When a public union goes to the table, who sits on the other side? Technically it is supposed to be the taxpayer, but of course there are no actual taxpayers there; their representatives, politicians, are the ones there.
How do they get the job? By being elected.
How do you get elected? You spend the most money to get the most advertisements to get the most votes.
Where does that money come from? If you are a Democrat, most of it comes from the public unions (8 billion from the teacher's union in the last decade alone).
That is where the problem is; the ones who benefit the most from making the unions happy are the ones who are supposed to be their opponents at the bargaining table.
Today, 40-50% of every state's budget goes to the schools. Other unions take even more. Retirement funds alone are well on their way to bankrupting most states.
There must be some sort of control to keep the public unions from "benefiting" us taxpayers into the poorhouse. If you can think of a better idea than limiting public union's collective bargaining, I am sure the governors of every state would like to hear it.

The lies to promote OBs in birth. The numbers just don't support their rhetoric.
Midwives in Ireland Yet another study showing that the midwife model of care is at least as safe as the traditional doctor model. The outcomes were the same for mommy and baby in both groups, but the midwife-cared women were happier with their experience.
Now I whole heartedly believe saftey and health are the most important consideration, but if that is equal in both types of care, than mommy's happiness and comfort should be the deciding factor. Midwives win here.

"One of the primary ways these educative platforms are spread is by recruiting and retaining faculty members who reflect and teach them. For example, citing from the polling firm of Luntz Research, Dr. Black notes that the 57 percent of faculty members represented in our most esteemed universities are Democrats (only 3 percent Republican) and 64 percent identify themselves as liberal (only 6 percent conservative). Moreover, 71 percent of them disagree that "news coverage of political and social issues reflects a liberal bias in the news media." And the No. 1 answer they gave to the question, "Who has been the best president in the past 40 years?" was Bill Clinton (only 4 percent said Ronald Reagan).
This is why it is no surprise that the two largest teachers unions, the NEA and AFT, are the largest campaign contributors in the nation (giving more than the Teamsters, NRA or any other organization), and that 90 percent of their contributions fund Democratic candidates. In doing so, do we think such funding is going to balance traditional and conservative values in public schools?"

Why isn't it called Breast Cancer Prevention Month? (the only things I would add to this article are:
- The amount of radiation in a mammogram is about the same as that you get from sitting in front of your computer for a couple of hours, so that's not so much of an issue.
- They should add to the "prevent cancer" advise
- Don't EVER use any chemical method of birth control (Pill, Depo, etc)
- Don't EVER have an abortion!!!!
- Do have as many babies as possible (each one lowers your cancer risk)
- Do Breastfeed for as long as possible (each accumalated year of nursing significantly reduces your risk, also.)
- Quit eating sugar. That's what they feed cancer in the lab to keep it alive to study it.

Government links
American Thinker: Pensioner's Dilemma
Imagine if you had actually been paid the entire amount you had earned your entire working life instead of the government forcing us to contribute to their ideas of retierment, healthcare, etc. If you had control, you could invest in a retierment that suits your needs and desires. You could invest in healthcare that suits your families needs. Instead, the government makes all these decisions for you. this is, of course, the same government that came up with such ideas as cash-for-clunkers.
When we all talk about issues such as public schools, child protective service, school lunches, etc, we assume that the parents won't take care of their own kids and so the state must.
This belief is due to intentional brain washing on the part of the government (through the schools) and the media, all of whom are socialists (the belief that the government owns everything and everybody.)
http://www.johntaylorgatto.com/chapters/2d.htm (Pay special attention to paragraph five)
http://www.johntaylorgatto.com/chapters/2f.htm (last two paragraphs)
(I would encourage everyone to read the whole book. The author was a veteran of the New York school system for thirty years, teacher of the year twice. He is now an international speaker and author.)
The gist is that we are intentionally crowded into small rooms and not "policed" efficiently enough to keep bullies in check. In fact those who deal with animals will tell you that the very stress of crowding and unnatural environments CREATES bullies. This in turn teaches us as children that everyone but us is cruel and stupid. Thus it isn't difficult at all for us to believe that everyone else will starve and beat their children if we don't let the government have all the power it wants.
The truth is that parents have a natural love for their children and will feed and educate them to the child's best interest without coercion from Uncle Sam. But giving the government the power to "help" the fictional child gives them the power to control us.

Clinton either doesn't understand economics or wants to keep drug lords rich. If MJ was legalized, far from being an aditional profit in the criminal's pocket, it would allow people to grow their own legally thus removing the drug lord's entire income. And really, why is MJ illegal anyway? It is no more adictive than alcohol or cigaretts and less of a gateway-drug according to studies. Though it does have some bad sideaffects, they are no worse (and in many cases are less) than preiscription high powered pain killers, do the same job or pain relief, but costs pennies to grow in your own bathroom. I suspect it is still illegal more to protect Big Pharm and the drug lords are just a politically correct excuse. (By the way, I have no interest in taking MJ myself, but then, I don't suffer from chronic pain. I know some people who are being driven into bankruptcy by their pain killers and would certainly do no worse on MJ and could still afford food.)

Government healthcare means cruelty, oppression, and murder...
http://www.renewamerica.com/analysis/swirsky/110312 The itch that's destroying America
Big Oil
Question all; is it wrong for the big oil companies to make a profit and if it is not, how much? I am not defending them by any means. I think they are all greedy, money grabbers. But, really, should they be allowed to make a profit? Those calling for government controls will have to deal with this question. A percentage profit will be set. (One of my sources says they are only making 4% right now) And, by golly, they will get that profit from then on, either by the price at the pump or through tax subsidies. They won’t have any incentive to make things cheaper and more efficient either.
Here is what I have come to believe is really going on; Clinton and cronies made it impossible for domestic suppliers to pump enough to keep up with our demand. (They did this in other industries too, such as the lumber industry) Economics being what they are these days, the oil industry is global and subject to global forces. China and India are experiencing massive economic booms, drastically increasing their demands for oil. Simple laws of supply and demand say that when you have big demand and small supply, prices will be high. What are the oil companies to do? Buy oil at $130 per barrel and sell it to us at $60? We won’t HAVE oil companies in this country long if we demand that. Or more likely, we would pay massive tax increases to bail them out.
The first thing we need to do is let the oil companies start drilling and building new refineries. This will increase supply and naturally lower prices (the Dems are asking the Saudis to do just this so don’t be fooled when you hear them say this won’t help any. It will and they know it will. They just want an excuse to socialize the oil industry in this country.)
The second thing we need to do is build more nuke plants. Nukes are a lot safer than is commonly believed. And they will give us cheaper electricity. This is key as many “alternate vehicles” use electricity.
Third, we need to remove as many barriers as possible to the development of other alternate fuels.
What will end this oil problem once and for all (and maybe end the creeping muslim conquest) is to end the world wide oil monopoly on power. When you build a house you should have the choice between no power (yes that SHOULD be a choice!), electricity from the grid, electricity from your own generation (gas, diesel, hydrogen, salt water, solar, etc.), propane, or who knows what else. You should have the same options when buying a car. When we achieve this, we will see world wide fuel prices plummet. You thought the break up of Ma Bell was big!
Imagine having solar generators that come standard on your house efficient enough to supply your house AND your electric cars. You just come home and plug your car in. the only maintenance should be to wash the generators once in a while and change the batteries occasionally. In this scenario, the oil companies will have to give cars away to get you to want to buy their product. OPEC will go broke and not be a world power anymore.
Anyway, just some thoughts going through my head. As I said, I don’t defend big oil. But if we are going to beat them up, let’s at least do it for the evil they have actually done; not things they don’t have control over.

"Listen, you idiots—learn good sense!"
Though my preferred Bible is the King James, I like to read other translations sometimes for a different perspective. This year I am doing part of my reading in the Message Bible. Part of today's reading:
Proverbs 8
1-11 "Do you hear Lady Wisdom calling? Can you hear Madame Insight raising her voice?
She's taken her stand at First and Main,
at the busiest intersection.
Right in the city square
where the traffic is thickest, she shouts,
"You—I'm talking to all of you,
everyone out here on the streets!
Listen, you idiots—learn good sense!
You blockheads—shape up!
Don't miss a word of this—I'm telling you how to live well,
I'm telling you how to live at your best.
My mouth chews and savors and relishes truth—
I can't stand the taste of evil!
You'll only hear true and right words from my mouth;
not one syllable will be twisted or skewed.
You'll recognize this as true—you with open minds;
truth-ready minds will see it at once.
Prefer my life-disciplines over chasing after money,
and God-knowledge over a lucrative career.
For Wisdom is better than all the trappings of wealth;
nothing you could wish for holds a candle to her."
I love it, lol.

15 Quotes From Conservatives On The Global Warming Hoax
Carnegie Institution Study: Genocide Reduces Global Warming
This is the only logical solution to the "environmental problem." Too bad the whole thing is a bad hoax. The environment is not in danger and never was.
But these elites who think they know better than everyone else will, in the future, impose baby restrictions much like China has, execute the handicapped and elderly, and generally kill as many people as they can.
Oh, and these are the ones who just took over our "health care."
Scary.
If you care about the environment, read this.
Global Warming Alarmism Melts Down with Phil Jones's Admissions,
Humans are religious creatures. I have often said that there is no such thing as a person without a religion. Dr Mohler has a good article on this subject and the religion of environmentalism. I would add, though, that we are obviously on our way to pantheism (the worship of all of nature).
Atheist claim that societies go from pantheism to polytheism to monotheism to atheism. History tells us this isn't true. societies go from monotheism to atheism to poly/pantheism. America has passed the atheism stage and is well one the way to the end.
What I find saddest is how many people think they are Christians but really believe the modern form of this paganism.
Have you ever noticed that those who are the angriest about my having children because of what it does to the environment are those who are livingthe highest standard of living? I just might give an enviro-theist the time of day if they were living totaly without electricity, gas, plastic, etc. When they can live that way, we'll discuss babies.
The fact is that all this "limit babies" talk is about letting them live high on the hog.
Good article
Go Green…
In the womb!
I don’t’ generally follow all the environmentalist advice. Frankly, most of the environmentalism is based on the assumptions of an atheistic or pagan worldview, not a worldview of the earth being created by a loving, all knowing God for the USE of human beings. It is worshiping the creation instead of the Creator.
This article (http://www.generationcedar.com/main/2009/05/going-green-with-everything-except-the-womb.html) pointed out the glaring in consistencies of the whole “green” movement.
They are telling us to be natural in every aspect except our reproduction. They are telling us to have dangerous surgeries (with side affects), and to use unnatural chemicals to break our reproductive systems. Those chemicals are wrecking havoc on or water systems! Yes, the birth control chemicals women are peeing into the water supplies are causing environmental damage! And who knows what it is doing to our men! Has anyone else noticed a tendency for males to look more and more like females?
Not to worry about our “footprint” in big families. Most of us can’t afford to be anything but “green.” We can’t afford disposables, eating out, processed foods and other things labeled as “bad for the earth.” So really, it is better to leave our reproductive systems alone and let them function like God intended.
In the country on the planet with the cleanest water, cars, and factories, why is environmentalism gaining such ground? I have even heard of churches that no longer preach sin, but environmentalism. Truth: “environmentalism” in America is just another name for socialism and paganism

How to Replace ObamaCare
Eagle Forum Blog: How to Replace ObamaCare
I sort of agree and sort of don't.
I don't support obamacare in any way, shape or form. I fail to see how putting everyone on Medicaid would be an improvement. And that is what will eventually come from obamacare. Why? This legislation requires everyone to buy insurance or pay a fine that is LESS than the cost of a years worth of insurance. Since no insurance will be allowed to deny you coverage should you actually get sick, most will choose to pay the fine. All the insurance companies will go broke since they will only have sick people paying in. The result will eventually be a single-payer system (which is the whole goal in the first place). Medicaid is exactly how that will look only more over crowded. Why anyone would think differently, I have no idea. If you look closely at the care in other countries, that is exactly what they have. With our gov's history, why would it be any different?
Now, does this mean I think our current medical system is great? Well, it's better than anyone else has, but it very badly broken.
What we should do to fix it:
1) Remove all government requirements and regulations on insurance companies (except of course punishing any company that doesn't keep their end of their contracts. (Thou shalt not steal, thou shalt not lie.)
2) End all Government involvement in health care (Medicare and Medicaid). Look at history. EVERY time ANY government gets involved in ANY industry the prices skyrocket and the quality plummets. Removing gove involvement will open the door for innovation and price cuts.
3) Institute a healthcare voucher system. Send every citizen and LEGAL immigrant a check for, say, $5000.00 that can be deposited into a healthcare savings account (Why would the elderly need poor quality Medicare when they hav ethe money to buy the same high quality care everyone else gets?). The only regulation would be that the receiver of the check must buy some sort of hospitalization coverage. They would be free to shop around to find the policy that would best meet their needs (hubby and I would look for maternity coverage, my elderly parents wouldn't, for example). Any more comprehensive coverage would be up to each individual. For hubby and I the money left in the account would be more than enough to cover our annual medical bills. We wouldn't seek any better coverage than hospital. My parents on the other hand, would probably look for something that would pay a wider range of bills. We would both shop around for the best deal with the most reliable companies.
4) Let the individuals contribute additional money to their accounts and cash out the leftovers at the end of the year. This would encourage price comparisons and trigger price wars among care providers. This is how capitalism works when unshackled by the government.
5) The legislation would include a reduction of 5% per year in the amount of the voucher until it no longer exists (An exception could be made for those born before 1965. Everyone else would have time to save some money up for their future.)
This plan would divorce health coverage from employment (a stupid idea in the first place.) It would drive prices down while forcing quality and innovation up. Most importantly, it would give each individual the freedom to buy what coverage they need, not some generic, cookie-cutter plan that doesn't fit them.
I really think this would be the best plan.

Is homeschooling enough to get our children saved? How about killing the TV? What about all those other things parents are trying to keep their children serving God? This article is one man's observation on what mistakes he has seen parents, especially conservative homeschoolers, make that have led to them losing their children. Very thought provoking.

Federal Spending by the Numbers 2010 | The Heritage Foundation
Interesting charts worth looking over even if you disagree with the commentary.
An exerpt:
Nowhere to Cut?
Immediately before the current recession, Washington spent $24,800 per household. Simply returning to that level (adjusted for inflation) would likely balance the budget by 2019 without any tax hikes.
The federal government made at least $98 billion in improper payments in 2009.

Wrestling with morality: boys vs. girls on the mat
"For example, it's the ultimate mixed message to instruct boys to be gentlemen but then say, in the name of "equality," "Oh, remember, you little chauvinist piglet, girls are just like you. Treat them exactly like anyone else." We put boys — whose natural desire to be a knight in shining armor and protect girls should be cultivated — in an unreasonable position: They either have to contribute to the defeminizing of the fairer sex or the emasculation of their own."

Two Thoughts on the Rob Bell Brouhaha – Kevin DeYoung
"What if the things you’ve heard recently are not the truth about Christianity? What if the warnings in Scripture are real warnings? What if God is purer than we thought, we’re worse than we imagined, and hell is as real as the nose on your face? What if the “only way” means the only way? What if God is glorified in salvation and judgment? What if the God of love and the Father of mercies is also a righteous Judge, a holy Sovereign, and a conquering King?"
