Government links

American Thinker: Pensioner's Dilemma
Imagine if you had actually been paid the entire amount you had earned your entire working life instead of the government forcing us to contribute to their ideas of retierment, healthcare, etc. If you had control, you could invest in a retierment that suits your needs and desires. You could invest in healthcare that suits your families needs. Instead, the government makes all these decisions for you. this is, of course, the same government that came up with such ideas as cash-for-clunkers.

When we all talk about issues such as public schools, child protective service, school lunches, etc, we assume that the parents won't take care of their own kids and so the state must.

This belief is due to intentional brain washing on the part of the government (through the schools) and the media, all of whom are socialists (the belief that the government owns everything and everybody.)

http://www.johntaylorgatto.com/chapters/2d.htm (Pay special attention to paragraph five)
http://www.johntaylorgatto.com/chapters/2f.htm (last two paragraphs)
(I would encourage everyone to read the whole book. The author was a veteran of the New York school system for thirty years, teacher of the year twice. He is now an international speaker and author.)

The gist is that we are intentionally crowded into small rooms and not "policed" efficiently enough to keep bullies in check. In fact those who deal with animals will tell you that the very stress of crowding and unnatural environments CREATES bullies. This in turn teaches us as children that everyone but us is cruel and stupid. Thus it isn't difficult at all for us to believe that everyone else will starve and beat their children if we don't let the government have all the power it wants.

The truth is that parents have a natural love for their children and will feed and educate them to the child's best interest without coercion from Uncle Sam. But giving the government the power to "help" the fictional child gives them the power to control us.

Note to my Representative:
If I had wanted you to compromise,
If I had wnated you to "get along" with the Democrates,
If I had wanted everyone to "accomplish" things,

I would have voted for a Democrate!!!
If you are a Republican Representative, FIGHT! We don't need two parties if they both act the same.

American Thinker: What's Missing from Healthcare in Rwanda?
I haven't reearched to see how much of thi is true but it does fit my obervations.

There is a mistaken idea that America is great becasue she is a democracy. This is absolutly not true. America is great becasue she was founded on the rule of law. No one was exempted from following the Constitution. That is why the birther issue is important. "As a nation, we should never again live in doubt as to whether the occupant of the White House is legitimate or not."

Clinton either doesn't understand economics or wants to keep drug lords rich. If MJ was legalized, far from being an aditional profit in the criminal's pocket, it would allow people to grow their own legally thus removing the drug lord's entire income. And really, why is MJ illegal anyway? It is no more adictive than alcohol or cigaretts and less of a gateway-drug according to studies. Though it does have some bad sideaffects, they are no worse (and in many cases are less) than preiscription high powered pain killers, do the same job or pain relief, but costs pennies to grow in your own bathroom. I suspect it is still illegal more to protect Big Pharm and the drug lords are just a politically correct excuse. (By the way, I have no interest in taking MJ myself, but then, I don't suffer from chronic pain. I know some people who are being driven into bankruptcy by their pain killers and would certainly do no worse on MJ and could still afford food.)

And did you know that the second most common illegally traded product in the US is raw milk? Oh the evil farmer.

You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich. ... You cannot lift the wage earner up by pulling the wage payer down ... you cannot build character and courage by taking away people's initiative and independence. You cannot help people permanently by doing for them, what they could and should do for themselves. Abraham Lincoln(?)

written last August that sums up my view on healthcare pretty well. http://www.voddiebaucham.org/vbm/Blog/Entries/2010/3/23_The_Yellow_Prison_Bus_and_the_Future_of_American_Healthcare_(Reprint).html

Politicians who are pushing for a government-controlled medical care system say that it will “keep insurance companies honest.” The very idea of politicians keeping other people honest ought to tell us what a farce this is. But if we keep buying it, they will keep selling it. - Thomas Sowell

In my studies I have frequently run across quotes from Alexis de Tocqueville's Democracy in America. Today I ran across The book free, online!

This man was remarkably acurate in what he predicted would happen in America. a bit scary, actually.

Ok, if you wanted to invent a system that encouraged people to meet other people's needs, what do you invent?

Hmmm, notice how many of the arguments in this article about the beginnings of public school sound the same as the ones for universal health care? Since we have gone from 99% literacy to 85% (and that number is fudged to be that high) literacy since the institution of public school, what do you think will happen if we do the same thing to health care?

We are not a democracy. We never have been. A democracy is rule by majority. They always end in chaos and persecution of minorities.

We are a Republic. A republic is “rule of law.” Everyone, from the president to the bum in the gutter, must obey the laws of the land. The laws are written by duly elected officials, but with a system of checks and balances to keep the majority from persecuting the minority.

Here is an excellent explanation of the different kinds of government.

Thank you so much for commenting! I love to talk to my readers.

I do ask that there be no anonymous commenters, though. If I am brave enough to put my name on this blog, you should be too:-)

Please keep it civil. Remember we are all human and make mistakes, and that since we can't see each other's faces or hear each other's tone of voice, it is very hard to get the emotion in what we are saying each other. Use lots of emoticons! :-) And show grace and love to each other.
