I never really gave a thought to our school's pep rallies when I was a kid (besides thinking most of them were duds. Now one where a friend of mine dressed up as death was pretty cool....) but as an adult they have bothered me. What exactly is the point? What does that screaming and shouting have to do with anything? How public schools interfer with education.
The schools seem to think they own the childrern.

I don't know if you will be able to see this sign if you don't have a facebook account. It is a marquee outside a school. It says, "School has begun. Thank you parents. We get them now." In other words, "Thank you for baby sitting while we had our vacation. You can go away now."
Who do you think owns the children?
Let’s say you have your children in a daycare situation and you discover that the provider is failing to do what they said they would, including keeping your children mentally stimulated and physically safe. Children are exposed to bullying, have easy access to toxic substances and are left largely to fend for themselves. They are bored, victimized, afraid, neglected and deteriorating or stagnating by every measure.
What would you do? Would you:
A) Remove your children from the daycare
B) Contact authorities to have the facility’s license revoked
C) Increase the amount of time your children spend at daycare Read the rest

A quote from Abigail Adams, wife to our second president:
“I have always thought it of very great importance that children should, in the early part of life, be unaccustomed to such examples as would tend to corrupt the purity of their words and actions that they may chill with horror at the sound of an oath and blush with indignation at an obscene expression….”

Private school is another. every parent will be held responsible for what their child is taught and every pastor will be held responsible for what the children in his congregation are taught. Living in this, the free-est country in history, we will have to answer to God for our children being subjected to this. There is no excuse.
Income makes no difference in the scores of homeschoolers except in math. In that one subject homeschoolers who are poor only score as high as private school children (still skunking public school children). All other subjects (English, history, science, the arts, etc.) homeschoolers far outperform traditional-school children from both public and private schools. Race, sex, social status, and parent’s educational level also do not make a difference among homeschoolers like they do among traditional schoolers.

Today's is the Alliance for the Separation of School & State. These folks believe that the government should have no more to do with education than with religion because they are actually the same thing. I agree. The teaching of children can not be separated from the teaching of religion. Jesus said "He that is not with me is against me: and he that gathereth not with me scattereth. (Luke 11:23)" and "The disciple (student) is not above his master (teacher): but every one that is perfect (finished with his education) shall be as his master. (Luke 6:40)" Our public schools, in fact our government is not FOR God, thus, according to Jesus, they are against Him. Teachers in our schools are taught by atheists and then teach our children. Keeping in mind what Jesus said above, how could our children not come out of the schools atheists? This goes a long way in explaining why Bible believing homes are loosing more than 80% of there children to atheism.
Anyway, this is a very informative website.

Softness dilutes the message and covers up the problem, encouraging people to tuck the issue into the far recesses of the mind where conscience never ventures. Why are you angry?
I have been doing a reorganization of my blog (which explains all the weird posts with old links in them). I have reread the comments my articles have drawn. More than half the comments I receive are incredibly angry. Especially on the subjects of abortion and children.
In none of these articles do I call for making abortion, birth control or working women illegal (though in other articles I do call to outlaw abortion. Just not the ones that draw comments.)
This means that in these particular articles I am in no way forcing anyone to do what I say or even suggesting someone else force them. I am doing no more than giving information.
Yet so many people call me names, tell me to shut up, cuss me out, ... you would think I was personally threatening them.
Why does it anger so many for facts that support the opposite point of view to be expressed? Are you really so insecure in your beliefs that you don't think your side can stand up to the challenge? Do you really think I am such a danger with my itty bitty blog? Really? Why?

Imagine if you had actually been paid the entire amount you had earned your entire working life instead of the government forcing us to contribute to their ideas of retirement, healthcare, etc. If you had control, you could invest in a retirement that suits your needs and desires. Instead, the government makes all these decisions for you. this is, of course, the same government that came up with such ideas as cash-for-clunkers.

What Liberals Don't Know About Guns, Chapter 217 - Ann Coulter
Ok, I don't generally post Ann Coulter's work. She's, uhhh, a bit, uhhh, rude. However this time she tells of several public shootings and the big difference between them, why some resulted in five or more dead and why some were limited to one or two dead.
The reason? In the lower death cases, someone was around with a concealed gun and pulled it on the murderer stopping the carnage.
Of course, those in favor of gun control (elimination) would say that if we got rid of all the guns in the country we wouldn't have any shootings. I have three problems with this:
1) Guns are so entrenched there is no way to get rid of them. Only law abiding citizens would turn them in leaving them to be victims of the criminals.
2) Guns are not the only deadly weapon out there. What's next? Knife control? Bat registration? Ice pick confiscation? If someone wants to kill, they will find a way. Again, getting rid of guns puts the weaker at a disadvantage.
3) and most importantly, the real reason for gun control is political. In a system of checks and balances, an armed citizenship is the final check. The government will not come forcibly remove me from my home because they don't know if I and my neighbors have guns to fight back with. An armed citizenship is the last guarantee of freedom. The first thing EVERY tyrant does is take away the guns. THIS is why our founding fathers wrote the second amendment; to protect us from the government itself.
Now the nice side affect of gun ownership is that in places where guns are allowed the crime rate is significantly lower. Criminals may be evil but they aren't stupid! You simply don't attack people who can shoot back.
I lived in California for more than thirty years. Ca has gun control and registration laws. We locked everything up and tied it down. I even had my morning newspaper stolen regularly!
I have lived in Northern Nevada now for a decade (no where near Vegas). We don't bother locking anything up. UPS regularly leaves stuff at our gate when we aren't home and, gasp! its still there when we arrive home. In Nevada, you do not have to register your guns. You can even carry them openly if you want to. If you want to conceal one you have to take a class in gun safety.
When we go visit down south, we can feel the fear settle over us. It's in the air.
That fear simply doesn't exist here.

A Case for Homeschooling: Is There a “Biblical Model” for Education? |
A Case for Homeschooling: Is There a “Biblical Model” for Education?
Great outlie of the argumet for a biblical model of homeschooling vs traditional schooling. I totally agree. I would add these scriptures:
Deuteronomy 6:7, “Teach [My Words] unto your children talking of them when you do your errands in town, rest in the evening, get ready for the day, and do your day’s work.” (In other words; Every Waking Moment.)
Ephesians 6:4, “Parents, don’t frustrate your children but bring them up in the education and culture of the Lord.”
Deuteronomy 4:9 “Only take heed to yourself, and diligently keep yourself, lest you forget the things your eyes have seen, and lest they depart from your heart all the days of your life. And teach them to your children and your grandchildren,”
Deuteronomy 11:19 “You shall teach them to your children, speaking of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.”
Exodus 8: 8 “And you shall tell your son in that day, saying, ‘This is done because of what the LORD did for me.”
Proverbs 22:6 “Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it.”
Galatians 3:24 “Therefore the law was our tutor to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith.” (It is learning God’s laws that brings us to Christ.)
Jeremiah 10:2 “Thus says the LORD: “ Do not learn the way of the Gentiles;…”
Psalm 1: 2 “But his delight is in the law of the LORD, And in His law he meditates DAY AND NIGHT.” (This includes school hours).
2 Corinthians 10:5 “Casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing EVERY THOUGHT into captivity to the obedience of Christ,” (Even math thoughts)
Proverbs 23:7 “For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.”
Luke 6:40 “A disciple is not above his teacher, but everyone who is perfectly trained (finished with his schooling) will be like his teacher.” (and if his teacher isn’t a chirsitian…)
Romans 12:2 “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”
Matthew 16:23 “But He turned and said to Peter, “Get behind Me, Satan! You are an offense to Me, for you are not MINDFUL OF THE THINGS OF GOD, but the things of men.”
Colossians 3:1 “If then you were raised with Christ, seek THOSE THINGS WHICH ARE ABOVE, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. 2 Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.”
Matthew 22:37-38 “Jesus said to him, ‘You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with ALL YOUR MIND.’ This is the first and great commandment.”
On the affects of non-Christian associations
1 Corinthians 15:33 “Do not be deceived: “Evil company corrupts good habits.”
Proverbs 13:20 “He who walks with wise men will be wise, But the companion of fools will be destroyed.” (Remember that “the fool says in his heart there is no God.” So anyone who walks with, or spends time with, someone who doesn’t acknowledge God is on the path to destruction.)
Matthew 18:6 “Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to sin, it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were drowned in the depth of the sea.”
The content of true education
2 Timothy 3:16-17 “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.” (What more do you need from an education?)
Proverbs 1:7 “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, But fools despise wisdom and instruction.” (True education BEGINS with the fear of God, but atheists despise true knowledge.)
Psalm 111:10 “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; A good understanding have all those who do His commandments. His praise endures forever.”
Proverbs 2:6 “For the LORD gives wisdom; From His mouth come knowledge and understanding;”
Proverbs 9:10 “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.”
James 1:5 “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.”
James 3:13-18 “Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show by good conduct that his works are done in the meekness of wisdom. 14 But if you have bitter envy and SELF-SEEKING IN YOUR HEARTS (hints of the many “self-esteem” mantras taught in schools today?), do not boast and lie against the truth. 15 This wisdom does not descend from above, but is earthly, sensual, demonic. 16 For where envy and self-seeking exist, (such as competing for the best grades) confusion and every evil thing are there. 17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy. 18 Now the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.”
Psalm 119:97-101 “Oh, how I love Your law! It is my meditation all the day. 98 You, through Your commandments, make me wiser than my enemies; For they are ever with me.”
2 Timothy 2:15 “Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
Matthew 6:33 “But seek FIRST the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and ALL THESE THINGS (including a good education) shall be added to you.”
Children belong to God
Ezekiel “that you have slain MY CHILDREN and offered them up to them by causing them to pass through the fire?”
Matthew 22:21 “They say unto him, ‘Caesar's.’ Then saith He unto them, “Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's; and unto God the things that are God's.” (Caesar’s image was carved on the money. Render the tax coin to Caesar. Our children are carved in the image of God. Give them to Him, not Caesar.)

The secret to a life of YES
When Christians Should Judge One Another
If you are behaving in a selfish manner,
If you are putting your needs and wants ahead of someone else's (like your children's or your spouses),
If you are not loving God more than ANYTHING ELSE,
You are sinning.
If I didn't love you, I wouldn't bother to tell you.
You need to get right with God and change your ways.
(By the way, "you" is the generic American. However, if this offends you, God is probably aiming it at you whether I even know you or not."

"Jesus tells us that God is a loving father. So when your loving father tells you to do something or not do something, you have to presume and assume he loves you, he’s trying to protect you. He’s not trying to rob you of joy and freedom and expression. He’s trying to save you from harm and suffering and death.”

If I stand in my father's garage and declare myself a turck it doesn't make me a Ford.
Just becasue I have been to McDonalds doesn't mean I am a Big Mac.
If you don't live the Christian life, if you don't follow Jesus, you are not a Christian.
Your life tells your religion, not your mouth.
Do you believe that everyone has the right to decide what is right for themselves? That no one should "judge" another by telling them they are wrong? That we should just love each other and all get along?
Then you are a Pagan.
Do you believe that every human is created equal- a sinner who has rebelled against God? That everyone deserves to go to hell? That the Bible tells us specificly what is right and what is wrong? What a sin is? That the ONLY way to get to heaven is through the Blood of Christ?
Then you are a Christian.

By definition, you can't be a Christian unless you follow Christ.
The Christian religion: God made you. You rebelled (sinned) against Him (all humans have). You deserve to go to hell. God loved you enough to die in your place. You must accept Him as your boss in order to receive this gift. This means in every area of your life you seek His will and obey Him.

A man dies and goes to heaven. St. Peter meets him at the pearly gates.
St. Peter says, "Here's how it works. You need 100 points to make it into heaven. You tell me all the good things you've done, and I give you a certain number of points for each item, depending on how good it was. When you reach 100 points, you get in."
"Okay" the man says, "I attended church every Sunday"
"That's good, says St. Peter, " that's worth two points"
"Two points?" he says. "Well, I gave 10% of all my earnings to the church"
"Well, let's see," answers Peter, "that's worth another 2 points. Did you do anything else?"
"Two points? Golly. How about this: I started a soup kitchen in my city and worked in a shelter for homeless veterans."
"Fantastic, that's certainly worth a point, " he says.
"hmmm...," the man says, "I was married to the same woman for 50 years and never cheated on her, even in my heart."
"That's wonderful," says St. Peter, "that's worth three points!"
"THREE POINTS!!" the man cries, "At this rate the only way I get into heaven is by the grace of God!"
"Come on in!"

Humans are religious creatures. I have often said that there is no such thing as a person without a religion. Dr Mohler has a good article on this subject and the religion of environmentalism. I would add, though, that we are obviously on our way to pantheism (the worship of all of nature).
Atheist claim that societies go from pantheism to polytheism to monotheism to atheism. History tells us this isn't true. societies go from monotheism to atheism to poly/pantheism. America has passed the atheism stage and is well one the way to the end.
What I find saddest is how many people think they are Christians but really believe the modern form of this paganism.

Neat quiz. I got an A. How do you do?
A worldview is the “glasses” you look at the world through. it is the preconceived ideas that govern every decision, whether you even know it or not. There are two basic world views; Biblical and secular. Even most religions besides Christianity view the world through a secular filter.
An example: I believe there is a God, thus I take the Bible to be true, thus I believe in a literally six day creation. If I didn’t believe in God I would obviously not believe in creationism. My “glasses” wouldn’t allow it.
Here is a link for a quiz that will tell you what kind of world view you have. Take it. You might be surprisedJ

Neat quiz.

Pushed
I finished this book today. More goodies from it:
A 2005 WHO study, controling for variables, found maternal morbidity rose in direct proportion to the rate of c-sections.
Same study found an equal rise in infant morbidity and mortality when c-sections ecceded 10-20% (Remember, America is now at 33% and climbing).
Low risk babies born by c-section were three times more likely to die in the first month of life than those born vaginally.
19% of respondents to one survey reported having an infection with their c-section compared to 1-3% for the God-made route.
Placental abruption is twice as likely in a pregnancy following a c-section than one that doesn't.
Placentia Privia is 50% more likely.
14% of directors of maternal-fetal medicine reported using the corts to compel women to have c-sections and 21% believed equivalent tactics were justified.
57% of women who wanted VBACs were denied them.
Most women surveyed had epesiotomies and had no choice. The doctor simply cut her without her permission (why isn't this assault and battery???)
There is much much more in this book. I highly recommend it for anyone concerned for women's rights.
Oh, a quote from a "women's reproductive rights activist:"
Reproductive rights don't extend to child birth.
Huhhh???? Isn't birth reproduction? Wouldn't that make anything associated with birth a reproductive rights issue?
Now, I am about as adamantly anti-abortion as you can get. I believe babies have the right to life just like anyone else.
But at what point in pregnancy does a woman loose her human rights??? Her right to autonomy? The right to make medical decisions for herself and to refuse medical treatment?
The government can't force my hubby to go give a kidney if my 16yo needed a transplant. WHY CAN THEY FORCE ME TO HAVE SURGURY FOR MY BABY?!?!?!?!?
It's NOT right.
Women are being abused everyday in the maternity wards of this country and I am not exagerating. They are being injured sometimes simply as punishment for questioning whatever procedure the doctor wants to do. They are being cussed at, arressted, tied down, violated, manipulated and abused in every way you can think of.
This is not right.

Interesting. Especially when I consider that my four earliest talkers were my four that had no sonograms. My older ones (who had at least one sono each) all talked towards the end of the "normal" range. I only had one that worried me and as soon as he realized that I was actually supposed to understand him, he improved greatly (though in thinking back, he was the only one who had a sono in the last month before birth. He also had three total while two of my other sono babies only had one each. My my fourth had four sonos due to a case of chickenpox.)
Very interesting.

Birth belongs to women, not doctors
Doctors in France were asked to estimate the risk of a uterine ruptur in a mom who has had two c-section. They guessed 14%. The real risk? 1.36%! Odds are good if you are a VBAC, Breech, or Obese Pregnancy, your doctor is overestimating the risks of natural birth and underestimating the risks of repeat c-sections.
The Fat Vagina Theory: "Soft Tissue Dystocia" (Uhhh, not to be too crude, but if this theory was true, wouldn't men be activly seeking out fat women to have sex with them?)
The Myth of a Vaginal Exam
Think about It
In the late 1800s, physicians’ guilds and associations in Western Europe and North America resolved to drive midwives from the profession, both to protect the economic viability of their own practices and to subject the large groups of lower socio-economic patients normally served by midwives to medical research and testing.(2) Many midwives defied the authority of these doctors and suffered the consequences—unemployment, mockery and even imprisonment.
Today, midwives continue to practice civil disobedience by working in areas where laws have not been passed to differentiate midwifery from the practice of medicine. Midwives are arrested annually, usually not because of a complaint from clients or negligence, but simply because it comes to the attention of the medical community that midwives are practicing without medical training and approval.(3) Even though convictions are rare, the expense and scandal these charges cause can ruin a midwife’s reputation in a community she’s been serving for years. -Midwifery today

"A ritual is a patterned, repetitive, and symbolic enactment of a cultural belief or value; its primary purpose is alignment of the belief system of the individual with that of society. A rite of passage is a series of rituals that move individuals from one social state or status to another as, for example, from girlhood to womanhood, boyhood to manhood, or from the womb to the world of culture. Rites of passage transform both society’s perception of individuals and individuals’s perceptions of themselves." Yep. That's American childbirth.

Sick? Know your rights! Research! Get a second opinion! Pregnant? Just do as your told and don't think too much.
Quick facts about VBACS (Poet and didn't know it)
Could "personhood" open the door to courts forcing women to birth in the hospital and have c-sections against their will? There needs to be an equal clause stating that a woman is a parent from conception and has the right to choose the place and method of her child's birth as well as who attends her. A woman shouldn't loose her legitimate human rights just because she is pregnant (abortion is not a legitimate human right. All human rights are given by God. God never told women they could kill their babies. But He also never gave government the right to tell people how to parent or the right to force people to have surgery for the health of other people.)
In the US, 1/3 of babies will be born through the belly instead of the vagina as God designed. The World Health Organization says no country should have a higher percent than 15% and 5-10 is better, safer for moms and babies. C-sections are major surgery with all the potential risks and long term side-affects.
(CPD=cephalopelvic disproportion= baby's head is too big to fit through mom's pelvis. Excuse me, but the same God who made the baby made the mom. He doesn't make mistakes.)
(The Gaskin maneuver [flipping a mom to her hands and knees to unstick a stuck baby] was named after midwife Ina Mae Gaskin. This is the only OB maneuver named after a woman. There is just something wrong with there only being one child birthing maneuver named after a woman.)
My OB said What? Hilarious and scary at the same time. All true.
You may have heard of the soon-to-be-released study (done by the OB union of course) that says hospital births are safer. I haven't read the study (it hasn't been released yet) but according to those in the know, it relies heavely on a study done in the 70s that did not differentiate between accidental out of hospital births and planned out of hospital births. Hey guess what? When a taxi driver and a panicy father deliver your baby, accidents happen. Many Many studies of far better scientific quality have shown home birth to be AT LEAST as safe as the hospital (many show HB to be safer).
"All that matters is that you are healthy and have a healthy baby, not how the birth actually went."
"If I am healing from major abdominal sugury, have been bullied and lied to, my baby put in ICU when it could have been avoided causing him to never learn to nurse (denying him the only truely healthy food for babies), I AM NOT HEALTHY and NEITHER IS MY BABY!"
Just Say No to C-sections
Children With Disabilities: Perfect for Us: Part 1 Ouch, and so true.
Abortion and the 14th amendment. The author is right about the call for 14th amendment rights for the preborn. I have not read her "sample laws," but would like to add to what she does say in this article the phrase "No human being will be forced to undergo surgury for the life of another, thus preventing doctors and courts from forcing women to have c-sections against their will. There is no other area in life where one person is FORCED (whether physically or through coersion) to have surgury for another human being. ("Hey Mrs. Jones, we the police have come to take you to the hospital to give a kidney to your neighbor whether you want to or not." Ridiculus) I would also probably add a clause stating that abortion would be allowed if the continuation of the pregnancy would dirctly cause the physical death of the mom (as in the case of a tubal pregnancy). This is jsut self defence and it is allowable in all states and even the Bible to kill in self defense.

Only if she wants to kill her baby, according to many doctors.
An increasing number of women are disatisfied with the care given in hospitals, especially if they are wanting a natural birth after having had a c-section. They are writing birth plans (which are summarily ignored), and hireing dulas to protect their interests and help them handle labor naturally. You really shouldn't have to have a Masters degree in child birth and an armed guard to have a natural birth.
It seems some doctors disagree.

This man is arragant and condecending. How in the world would HE know whether an induced labor hurts more than a natural one???? (I have had both. Induction hurts MORE.) Whateer happened to Informed CONSENT? This is more like Informed submit.
An interview with a doctor. He tells the truth behind VBAC bans.
Pit to Distress": Your Ticket to an "Emergency" Cesarean?
Now this is just plain evil!!!
I just herad a wonderful comment about women birthing in America. American women beg for epidurals in order to avoid ALL pain. They are terrified of the pain. These are that same women who regularly wear high heel, and use botox, plastic surgury, underwire bras, thong underware, and was removal of unwanted body hair! We beg for- even PAY- to be put through these torture devices, yet we can't take a few cramps???
Here is the story of a woman who was on her death bed… until her baby saved her life.
A real tear jerkerJ

“The protocols in the world of animal husbandry to protect an offspring at the time of birth—no strangers, dimmed lights, freedom of movement, familiar environment, unlimited nourishment, respectful quiet, no disruptions—are done without hesitation because to do otherwise invites “unexplained distress” or sudden demise of the offspring.” — Beth Barbeau, Excerpted from "Safer Birth in a Barn?" Midwifery Today, Issue 83
Maybe we shuld have all women go to the barn instead of the hospital to birth. I'm only half kidding.

Pictures from My Favorite Artist
Only God can make the best of art. I thank Him daily for works He paints for me.
Visitor in our yard during the night. |
A dormant peach tree. |
Jiffy insists there have been all sorts of visitors during the night. |
The rabbits love the cold weather. (I would have taken a picture of both does, but they look exactly alike so you couldn't tell them apart anyway) |
Our new buck. The old one died. This is actually his grandson. We can't wait to see what his babies will look like. |
A Russian Olive (?). Essentially a weed with two inch thorns we let get out of control. |
A cow who doesn't like to get her feet wet and so stays in the shelter all day when it snows. |
A stack of tumbling mustard. |
Sage brush |
Only God could make barbed wire pretty! (The picture doesn't do justice.) |
My two sword fighters. They are clearly unclear on the concept of being sick. |
A cold Sunday morning. |
